“How is she doing Wendy?” A soft but tough voice asked. Wendy sleepily opened her eyes as she felt
around for her thick rimmed glasses. Wendy’s short brown hair framed her face
her brilliant blue eyes glowed like a mid-day sky. “Is that you Dusk?” Her voice weighted by sleep muffled out
between yawns. The voice answered again
“yes Wendy how is she?” The voice was
coming from an image on a crystal ball.
The woman had eyes as purple as the night sky. She had long silver blonde hair lightly
covering slightly pointed ears. “She has
barely eaten anything. And, has kept a
non-stop vigil by Kurt’s bed.” “I see
has he shown any signs of waking.” “Not
yet all of his wounds have healed remarkable since it’s only been a week since
the battle. I’m still exhausted and sore
from the whole ordeal. Aura has healed
up nicely too but other than that yeah… “
“I’m glad you two are okay and I
hope Kurt wakes up soon. Raxe and I need
to get back to searching the rubble. I
don't think The Vampire Arcane was so easily destroyed. I want proof he is gone.” “Keep me posted.” Wendy asked.
Leaving the room she went down the
hall to her hidden workshop. Kurt’s gun
had not survived the fight. Wendy’s
special ammo had proven to be too much for it under repeated use like that it
could not stand up to combat conditions.
As she stared at it “damn and I thought Glocks were supposed to be
tough!” As she swept its broken remains
into a materials bucket she got an idea. “I could use that.” The that she was referring too was a large
chunk of a broken sword. “But in the meantime
he will have to make do with this.” In a
case surrounded by satin lay an elegant reddish gold gun built to resemble a
1911 model 45 auto. It had streaks of an
odd metal forming what looked like micro circuitry all over the gun. It had been designed to channel energy both
from the user and the ammo. She called
it the Alchemical Caster. This was the
real reason she was so tired. She had
created the ultimate bullets through her alchemy but the only gun that could
fire them without breaking wasn't a gun at all.
It was an ancient dagger that took on whatever form is most useful to
the wielder. The Dagger of Ages is what
was known as a will weapon. Whoever
holds it can will it to change forms but it also has a will of its own.
“Wendy looked at her gun and smiled
“it will do better than his Glock did but still can't handle repeated use
without overheating.”
In another room a girl with eyes as
orange as the setting sun kept a constant vigil by the bed side of a man. She too had long silver blonde hair covering
a set of slightly pointed ears. As she
watched over him a strange ghostly black cat jumped up onto his bed. Softly she spoke to it “hello Twilight” her voice turned to tears “ when is he going
to wake up?” Kurt had taken the most
damage during the fight with Arcane but incredibly with the possession by the
spirit cat he was able to go first to fist, blow for blow in a hand to hand
fight with the most powerful vampire to ever exist. As she sobbed a hand came up to her face
cupping her chin “don't cry Aura I’m okay.”
Before he could finish his sentence she had dove into bed with him
hugging him tightly. “I was so scared
you would never wake up.” He just
wrapped his arms around her and let her cry it out. Wendy having heard the noise was standing in
the doorway smiling. She was relieved to
see his gentle green eyes. The calm of
the wind swept meadow had returned to them.
It was clear to her the two of them belonged together.
The cheerful scene was suddenly
interrupted by a loud crash as the whole place shook. Were they under attack again? There was no time to talk or argue Wendy
threw Kurt his new toy as Aura strapped on her weapon. Looking into Kurt’s eyes Wendy sternly spoke
“its untested, it should hold up to my ammo but don't let your resolve waver it
will affect the gun. Your will drives it
I hope.” Kurt stared blankly “what do
you mean you hope.” “I tried to
replicate Aura’s Dagger of Ages as much as possible to make you a proper
weapon. This one is only a test
model. It does work but all I have done
is test fire it under controlled conditions.
It seems to work but…” Kurt
studied it “gotcha no rapid firing.”
Wendy’s crystal core ammo had proven to be extremely powerful but no
modern guns could handle it for long.
“Aura, load your Heavy rounds Kurt and I will use crystal core
rounds.” Wendy pulled out a mid-sized
revolver from a holster hidden in the small of her back. “The noise came from upstairs lets go.” The three of them charged upward and to Wendy’s
surprise the never ending stairs ended at a door she had never seen before. The part of the house lost to the ages was
back. As they closed in on the door they
could hear voices on the other side.
“Kurt you ready?” Locked and loaded Wendy.” “Aura be a dear and kick open the Door.”
Jack had heard their guns cocking as he dove behind John “shields up John.” He yelled it just in time for the door to shatter and three loud bangs to go off. John Had used his power just in time. There had only been three shots but it was as if an army had fired at them. The noise was deafening. As the smoke cleared Wendy noticed it first a wall had appeared to block their attack. The house had protected whoever was in the room. John and his group were just as surprised. John was even more surprised to see his sword Dark Thunder hovering in front of him. The words echoed in the room “But I left it in the Necropolis.” Slowly the wall melted away as the two groups saw each other Claire realized where they were.
Wendy caught sight of the sword “I don’t believe it a Ravenwood Relic an original key The Sword Dark Thunder. Everyone holster your weapons these are not enemies.”
